b'Introducing Our New Sailing and Science Day CampAssuming we are able to run programs this summer, PBCBs new Sailing and Science Day Camp will be kids home away from home, reminiscent of old-fashioned coastal New England summer camps that used to dot Pleasant Bay.Long summer days will be full of adventures with friends on the Bay. Our Sailing and Science Summer Camp program pairs discovery science and exploration with sailing lessons. Campers will learn to sail, explore the Bay, learn STEM principles by observing all the science that exists on and in the marine environment around a sailboat, practice kayaking and rowing, rig boats, build and race cardboard boats and spend lots of time on the water. They will also make aquariums, observe seals, care for baby oysters, use microscopes, measure phytoplankton levels, use beach seine/fishing nets and observe marine habitats and wildlife. This enthusiasm comes from Emily Mitchell, Director of Our Community Partnership the Harwich Council on Aging.Over the last four years, with Councils On Aging PBCB has hosted members of the Councils on Aging from Chatham, Harwich, Brewster and Orleans for afternoon sails on the Bay.Thats 60 sailing trips for our COA Before Participation: participants, at no cost to them!Every year, the PBCB We already have 12 sign-ups plus a hefty waitlist, so Isailing sign-up list fills within days at the COA and creates can see that this is a popular program that our seniors arewaitlists in all 4 towns.Clearly this is an appreciated thrilled to take part in.
